The Best of Chinese and Western Medicine in One
Dr. Solomon’s training is highly unique in that he is a UCLA-trained Western medical doctor AND trained as a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. He blends the best of both systems in his patient treatments, depending on the patient’s needs: traditional Chinese medicine treatment includes acupuncture, Chinese acupressure, energy work and medical philosophy, while allopathic allopathic Western medicine, which includes medications, injections, and insights. The benefit is that he can draw on either system, or even both, as needed for the best treatment care for his patients.

His personal specialty is pain management and acupuncture, but that includes better life plan counseling, with the goal being objective clarity for the patient to understand the causal factors of their condition and educate them on how to make responsible and proactive choices for their own health and wellness.

The first appointment with a patient is typically 90 minutes, as the first 60 minutes are a verbal exchange for history and assessment and a physical exam, with the actual treatment being another 30 minutes. After that, appointments are typically 50 minutes for consultation and treatment.

Other services available may include: deep tissue massage, movement therapy, exercise therapy, hypnotherapy, stress management, energetic chiropractic, some herbs, cold laser therapy, and reflexology.

About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical treatment that works directly with the body’s energy, or qi. The treatment is based on the belief that illness is the result of the natural flow of energy through the body becoming stagnant, depleted or weakened and, thus, making an individual susceptible to illness. Acupuncture benefits the patient by rebalancing the chi through stimulating specific acupoints related to symptoms or illness present and removing these energy obstructions.

Through clinical trials, acupuncture has been proven effective in treating various medical conditions and its use has been expanded into conventional medicine practices.

Although best known for the control of pain, and reducing the need to take drugs to control pain or symptoms, acupuncture benefits a wide variety of disorders. Respiratory disorders such as sinusitis, common cold, bronchitis and asthma can be effectively treated with acupuncture. Conjunctivitis, migraine headaches and PMS are a few of the disorders that acupuncture can benefit, as well as toothache, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders like paralysis following stroke, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica and osteoarthritis – all are treatable with acupuncture.

Additional benefits of acupuncture include:
  • faster recovery from injuries
  • decreased symptoms of stress
  • improved circulation
  • strengthened immune system function
  • increased energy and sense of vitality
  • relief from emotional or psychological disorders (addictions, phobias, eating disorders, anxiety, etc.)
  • complementary treatment for acute and chronic disease

Often used as a form of preventative medicine, acupuncture is beneficial in preventing illness from occurring. Many people receive acupuncture without suffering from any particular malady or ailment. Treatment strengthens general constitution, and can correct a feeling of being unwell although there is no physical disorder, imbalance or illness in the traditional Western medicine sense.
